LOS ANGELES, CA (July 3, 2014) — Kate Hackett Productions is pleased to announce the cast of ‘Classic Alice: Book Two.’ Kate Hackett (Real Rob, Kate & Joe Just Want to Have Sex), Tony Noto (Days of Our Lives, Missy from Missisippi), and Elise Cantu (Amateur History) will all be reprising their roles within the series, while actors Chris O’Brien (‘Found Footage 3D,’ ‘Barely Pet Parents’) and Reid Cox (‘Cinema Purgatorio,’ ‘Ashley’) will join the cast. Additionally, the cast is rounded out by Caitlin King (The Poetry of Earth), Yuri Baranovsky (Leap Year, The Goreys), and Shondalia White (Jungle Master).
‘Classic Alice’ is a transmedia webseries that tells the story of Alice Rackham (Hackett), an ambitious college student who, after receiving an unsatisfactory grade on an English essay, decides to live her life according to classic literature. Together with her filmmaker friend Andrew Prichard (Noto) they create a vlog-style documentary about the process. Cantu will be returning as Cara, Alice’s friend and roommate. O’Brien will play Ewan, a driving force in book 2, and Cox will portray Alice’s crazy cousin Reagan.
Series creator and writer Hackett said Cox and O’Brien are already proving great additions to the cast. “They both came in and added positivity to the already established cast– they are so excited to be on board and we are so excited to have them,” she said.
“I think Pygmalion is a really interesting choice to do in a college setting,” Cantu said of the series’ decision to feature George Bernard Shaw’s work for Book Two. “The question of identity is more and more a very complicated one…and a book like Pygmalion is able to analyze the possibility of changing who you are completely, if it’s possible, and if you should. Pygmalion is kind of a ‘be careful what you wish for’ sort of story, and I think Kate has done a great job of translating that in a very modern and relatable way.”
Within the 24-episode second book ‘Classic Alice’ will also tackle the story The Butterfly by Hans Christian Andersen, as selected by the show’s fans.
New episodes of ‘Classic Alice’ will begin August 5 on YouTube.com/ClassicAliceSeries, featuring the new and returning cast members. In the meantime, fans can keep up with the series’ transmedia world at www.classic-alice.com.
